Everybody can improve their voice

Having a clear and confident voice is an essential business skill to be an effective leader, manager and communicator. Whether you are giving a presentation, performing in the media, on stage or speaking on the phone a good voice can be a great asset.

There is a preconception that because you have grown up with a weak voice you will not be able to change it. As long as you are healthy and have a bit of will, there is no reason why your voice shouldn't be one to make people sit up and listen.

How to change your voice

A few simple rules: There are a few things that a good voice coach can explain, which will dramatically improve your vocal quality and allow you to acquire more volume, stamina etc.

Learn to speak correctly: A good voice coach will also teach other things which cannot be quickly or easily explained, and must be demonstrated in person. It is dangerous to try and 'teach yourself' as there is no teacher to give you immediate feedback. These days I meet more and more clients who have tried to learn how to improve their voice with 'online tuition', resulting in the reinforcement of bad habits etc. which then need to be laboriously corrected. If you are thinking of improving your speaking voice then it is best to get in touch with me first, so that I can teach you everything you need to know, and just as importantly, stop bad habits developing. At best, bad habits can lead to fatigue (sore throat), at worse they can do serious damage.

Although lots of people make out that the voice is some mysterious instrument that some people are born lucky enough to use properly, this simply isn't true. It is just like any other part of our bodies - if you can learn to use it correctly then your voice will sound beautiful and you will be able to talk/sing/act etc. all day without getting a sore throat.
